Vision & Mission Statement

Vision

To make United Theological College a truly, Ecumenical & contextual center of theological training and nurturing in equipping God-fearing and relevant leaders who will be the heralds of the Gospel of Jesus Christ  who is  Lord and Saviour of the Church.

Mission

United Theological College is committed to the provision of quality education to men and women who want to pursue theological and academic excellence (both clergy and laity) in Zimbabwe, the Southern African Region, and the entire globe.  As an ecumenical institution, the United Theological College recognizes and values the varied needs of the people and their different worship traditions. The UTC believes that individuals and communities can be transformed through quality education and the witness of an Ecumenical Church of Christ.  The College is committed to addressing the challenges of our context, which are characterized by chronic poverty, diseases, and moral decadence, tribal and racial conflict in the context of our experiences.

Aim

To offer courses of training for the Christian Ministry leading to a Bachelor of Theology Degree and or Religious Education that suits the needs and challenges of the Christian Church and the people of Zimbabwe.

Objectives

To provide quality Academic scholarship to such persons that have the requisite qualifications and the necessary financial resources to engage in religious and theological education.

To stimulate serious religious reflection, research, and publication on issues   relating to the life and work of Religious Institutions in Zimbabwe.

To enable students of religious education to grow intellectually, spiritually and emotionally so that they can effectively interpret and communicate the biblical message to all the people.

To cultivate a sense of awareness of the varied social, economic, political and religious discourses in the growth and development of human societies.

To equip students with necessary tools of understanding the religious message of love and hope in their relevant context.

To assist students to appreciate different traditions of worship and how the Christian faith can be brought to bear on the world through a morally acceptable conduct.

To encourage dialogue between the Christian faith and African culture in the development of indigenous expressions of Christian spirituality and relevant theologies.

To equip students with special communication and operational skills in order to combat the ever increasing challenges of moral decadency in the contemporary world.
